Making six cuts and cutting it open/separating it open in a bowl of water worked better for me to get it open, but whacking the peel does help alot!

Good job. I do the same, but put seeds in bowl and smash for juice. I then place remaining seed pulp in bullet with a little water for the fiber and remaining juice.
